What is albinism?
Albinism is the congenital absence of pigmentation in the eyes and skin and hair.

There are many different types of albino animals. There are the amelanistic or true albino which is similar to human albinism. There is Piebaldism is when albinism only occurs on certain parts of skin, this is a mutation in that effected the skin cells while the animal was being developed in the embryo.

In humans albinism is a result of no melanin,which is naturally occuring dark pigments. Melanin is important because it protects us from ultraviolet light. It also plays role in development of your brain and retina.
